Owner of Holdenby House and Founding Partner of M&C Saatchi, James Lowther was delighted to be asked to judge once again and was joined by an enthusiastic team of Dave Ramsey from Heygates Flour and Animal Feed (sponsor); Saints and England Saxons lock, Christian Day; Northampton College lecturer, Richard Curtis; Board Director of Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership, Rob Purdie; Nutritionist Dr Mabel Blades and BBC Radio Northampton’s Helen Blaby.
The categories judged were ‘New Local Product of the Year’ and ‘Artisan Product of the Year’; there was some tough decision making to choose from the many entries, but with the task complete, the selected finalists now go forward to be assessed next month by a panel of expert external judges, including TV chef and author Sophie Grigson, to vie for the respective titles. The winners will not be revealed until the Awards Dinner taking place at the Royal and Derngate on 17th October. There was a huge amount of effort that had gone into all the entries and we are proud to be able to support such a great competition for our county.
